How to Recover Deleted Chats (and Never Lose Them Again)

It takes one wrong tap to delete a conversation you care about. Whether you can get it back depends entirely on where your messenger keeps your history.

#Can deleted chats be recovered?

Messenger	Deleted chat	Lost phone
WhatsApp	Only from an older backup (overwrites newer chats)	Needs Drive/iCloud backup
Signal	No	Only if transferred
Telegram	No (deleted from the cloud)	Cloud chats return on sign-in
Yapie	Yes — request a recovery	Chats return on sign-in

#How Yapie's recovery vault works

Every few minutes, Yapie saves chats and uploaded files into a recovery vault on the server:

• Stored chat by chat and person by person, in highly compressed form.
• Edits and deletions are captured — a message deleted seconds after it was sent is still in the vault.
• Never deleted by the app, even if you delete the chat, clear history or lose your phone.
• Disappearing and view-once messages are excluded to respect what the sender chose.
• Secret chats stay end-to-end encrypted; only encrypted data exists on the server.

#How to request a recovery

1. Open Settings › Backup, import & export.
2. Under Protected on the server, tap Request a recovery.
3. Describe what you lost — the chat name and roughly when.
4. Support restores it into your account as a new chat called "♻ Recovered: …" with the full history, and you get a notification.

Admins can only access the vault for recovery, security and legal reasons, and every export or restore is logged.

#Habits that keep your history safe

• Turn on automatic backups in Settings › Backup, import & export (daily, weekly or monthly). Yapie saves a compressed .yapbackup file to your device.
• Copy that file somewhere else — Google Drive, a USB stick, your laptop.
• Use two-step verification so nobody can sign in and delete things.
• End old sessions in Settings › Devices when you change phones.

#Frequently asked questions

Can I recover a chat I deleted in Yapie?

Yes. Go to Settings › Backup, import & export › Request a recovery. Support restores it into your account from the server's recovery vault.

Are deleted messages really kept?

Yes, regular chats including edits and deletions are kept in the recovery vault. Disappearing and view-once messages are not kept.

Can other people recover my deleted messages?

Vault access is limited to administrators handling recovery, security or legal requests, and every access is logged. Restores go only to people who were in that chat.
