Use Yapie on Your Computer — No Phone Needed

Some messengers' desktop versions stop working when your phone's battery dies. Yapie's don't — every device talks to the server directly.

#Sign in on a computer

1. Open [Yapie](/app/) in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. 2. Sign in with your **username, email or phone** and password (plus your two-step code if enabled).

Or use Link a device: on the computer choose to link with your phone, then scan the QR code from Settings › Devices & linking on your phone. Linking also moves your secret-chat keys.

#Install Yapie as a desktop app

- **Windows (Edge/Chrome):** click the **Install** icon in the address bar, or menu › **Apps › Install Yapie**. Yapie appears in the Start menu with its own window. - **macOS:** Safari › **File › Add to Dock**, or the Install icon in Chrome/Edge. - **Linux/ChromeOS:** Install from Chrome or Chromium.

#Desktop notifications

When the browser asks, click **Allow**. In Yapie, check **Settings › Notifications & sounds**. Sounds play after your first click in the app (browsers require a click before playing audio).

#Security tips for shared computers

- Use a **private window** on public computers and sign out afterwards. - Review **Settings › Devices** and end sessions you don't recognise. - Turn on **app lock** for personal computers others can access.
