A well-run group is calm and useful. A badly run one is spam and arguments. Yapie gives admins precise controls.

Where to find them

Open the group or channel › tap its name › **Admin** section.

Group permissions

| Setting | Options | Use it for | |---|---|---| | **Who can send messages** | Everyone / Admins | Announcement groups | | **Who can send media** | Everyone / Admins | Cutting down forwards and spam | | **Who can pin messages** | Everyone / Admins | Keeping pins meaningful | | **Who can add members** | Everyone / Admins | Stopping random adds | | **Who can edit group info** | Everyone / Admins | Protecting the name and photo | | **Slow mode** | Off / seconds–minutes | Busy groups, live events | | **Approve new members** | On / Off | Private communities | | **Restrict saving content** | On / Off | Paid or confidential content |

Channel permissions

Channels broadcast to unlimited subscribers. Admins decide: - **Who can post** — usually admins only. - **Reactions** — let subscribers react with emoji. - **Members can comment under posts** — on for discussion, off for a clean feed. - **Members can start live voice chats**. - **Sign posts with the author's name** — useful for multi-author channels.

Managing people

Long-press a member to **Make admin**, **Remove admin**, **Ban** or **Transfer ownership**. With approvals on, **Approve** join requests from the members list. Create invite links with an expiry or a usage limit, and require admin approval if you like. Revoke a link any time.

Good moderation habits

1. Write **rules** and pin them. 2. Use **slow mode** during busy periods. 3. Keep admin rights to **trusted people**. 4. Use **topics** in large groups to keep conversations separate — see [slow mode and topics](/blog/slow-mode-and-topics-in-large-groups).
