How to Install an APK Safely on Android

An APK is simply an Android app package. The Play Store installs them for you; you can also install them directly.

#Install Yapie on Android

1. On your phone, open the [Yapie download page](/download) and tap **Download for Android**. 2. Open **Yapie.apk** from the download notification or the **Downloads** folder. 3. If Android says your browser isn't allowed to install apps, tap **Settings** and switch on **Allow from this source**. 4. Go back and tap **Install**. 5. Open Yapie and allow the permissions you want to use (notifications, camera, microphone…).

#Tighten up afterwards

Go to **Settings › Apps › Special app access › Install unknown apps** and switch the browser back **off**. Yapie offers its own updates inside the app.

#Stay safe with APKs

- ✅ Only download from the **official website**. - ❌ Never install APKs **sent in chats**, even from friends — accounts get hacked. - ❌ Avoid "modded" or "premium unlocked" versions of apps. - ❌ Be suspicious of APKs asking for **Accessibility** or **SMS** access without a clear reason. - ✅ Keep **Google Play Protect** (if available) turned on.

You can review them anytime in Settings › App permissions.
