How to Separate Work and Personal Chats (Without Two Phones)

Work messages at 11 pm, family photos in the office group. How to keep work and personal life apart with a Work switch, quiet hours, folders and clear team norms.

Running your life and your job through one messenger blurs the line. These habits put it back.

The Me / Work switch

Yapie has two spaces under one account: - **Me** — family, friends, Discover, wallet. - **Work** — company chats, attendance, approvals, meetings, documents and reports.

Switch with one tap. Your employer's admins see work data only — never your personal chats.

Quiet hours

**Settings › Notifications & sounds › Quiet hours** silences notifications overnight. Allow important people through by turning on **Can reach me during quiet hours** in their profile.

Mute work groups after hours

Mute busy work groups for 8 hours when you leave, or use **Exclude muted** in a chat folder so they don't clutter your evening.

Folders

Create folders like **Family** and **Clients** — see [chat folders](/blog/chat-folders-organize).

Team norms (for managers)

- **Response expectations**: "Messages after 7 pm can wait until morning." - **Urgent means call**, not a group message. - **Schedule** non-urgent messages for the morning — see [scheduling messages](/blog/schedule-messages). - Use **approvals** for decisions, not late-night chats.

When to use two accounts

If you want a completely separate identity (a public creator profile, for example), add a second account in **Settings › Accounts** — see [multiple accounts](/blog/multiple-accounts-one-phone).

Frequently asked questions

Can my employer see my personal Yapie chats?

No. Work admins see work data such as attendance, requests and reports, never personal chats.

How do I stop work notifications at night?

Turn on quiet hours and mute work groups after hours.

Do I need a second account for work?

No. The Work switch keeps company tools separate inside the same account.
