Messenger Account Hacked? Do These 7 Things Now

Friends tell you "you" asked them for money. Or you see a login you didn't make. Act quickly.

#1. Get back in

Sign in on your own phone or computer. If the password was changed, use **Forgot password** with your verified email or phone, or a **recovery code**.

#2. End every other session

Yapie: **Settings › Devices** → end all sessions except your current one. This kicks the attacker out immediately.

#3. Change your password

Use a new, unique passphrase you've never used anywhere. See [strong password tips](/blog/strong-password-guide).

#4. Turn on two-step verification

So the attacker can't simply sign in again with a stolen password: **Settings › Privacy & security › Two-step verification**.

#5. Warn your contacts

Post in your family and friends groups: "My account was hacked — ignore any requests for money or codes sent yesterday."

#6. Check your wallet

Review recent transactions in the **Wallet** and change your **wallet PIN**. Report unauthorised transfers to support straight away.

#7. Report it

Open **Settings › Help & support** and create a ticket. If messages or chats were deleted, ask for a [recovery](/blog/recover-deleted-chats).
