How to Import Telegram Chats Into Yapie

Moving from Telegram? You can bring a conversation's history with you.

#Step 1 — Export from Telegram Desktop

Chat exports are available in **Telegram Desktop** (Windows, macOS, Linux):

1. Open the chat or group.
2. Click ⋮ (More) › Export chat history.
3. Untick media types you don't need (photos, videos, files) for a smaller export.
4. Set Format to Machine-readable JSON.
5. Click Export and note the folder. You'll find a result.json file.

Tip: Settings › Advanced › Export Telegram data also works — choose a single chat and JSON.

#Step 2 — Import into Yapie

1. Copy `result.json` to the device where you use Yapie. 2. Open **Settings › Backup, import & export**. 3. Choose **Import into: A new chat** (or an existing chat). 4. Tap **Telegram .json** and pick the file. 5. Yapie imports the messages and opens the chat.

#What's imported

- ✅ Messages with their **original timestamps**. - ✅ The **sender's name** on each message, tagged as imported from Telegram. - ✅ Formatted text (bold, links) as plain text. - ❌ Service messages (joins, pins) and media files.

#Bringing a community over

1. Create a Yapie **group** or **channel**. 2. Import the history into it. 3. Post the Yapie invite link in your Telegram group so members can join.
